What We Do
Throughout more than three decades of experience, the EFFECTS Research Group has distinguished itself through its commitment to scientific excellence, methodological innovation, and knowledge translation. Its activity focuses on understanding the mechanisms through which physical exercise and nutrition act as therapeutic and preventive strategies against metabolic, cardiovascular, and oncological diseases, as well as within the context of ageing. The group combines clinical, experimental, and molecular physiology perspectives aimed at transferring scientific advances into healthcare practice.
At its current stage, the group is composed of a young, dynamic, and multidisciplinary team affiliated with the Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Granada. The team brings together professionals from Medicine, Nutrition, Biomedicine, Biology, Nursing, and Sport Sciences. This diversity represents a key strength, enabling the integrated study of complex challenges and the development of innovative research lines.
Vision
To consolidate an internationally recognised model of clinical and translational research in which human metabolism, physical exercise, and nutrition are integrated as fundamental pillars of preventive, personalised, and evidence-based medicine, aimed at optimising health, functionality, and quality of life throughout the life cycle.
Mission
To advance the understanding of human metabolism and its interactions with physical exercise and nutrition through rigorous, interdisciplinary, and translational research; to promote the training of highly qualified researchers and the transfer of scientific knowledge into clinical practice and public health policies, with the purpose of strengthening the integration of lifestyle as a cornerstone of the medicine of the future.
