His main lines of research focus on the effects of physical exercise and nutrition in the context of active aging and metabolic diseases. His work is oriented towards exploring how lifestyle changes optimize energy metabolism and reverse the frailty phenotype in older adults, and how advanced monitoring, through skeletal muscle mitochondrial respiration, indirect calorimetry, and triaxial accelerometry, allows for the evaluation of improvements in functional capacity and quality of life.

Juan Corral Pérez is a Sara Borrell post-doctoral researcher. His main lines of research focus on the effects of physical exercise and nutrition in the context of active aging and metabolic diseases. His work is oriented towards exploring how lifestyle changes optimize energy metabolism and reverse the frailty phenotype in older adults, and how advanced monitoring, through skeletal muscle mitochondrial respiration, indirect calorimetry, and triaxial accelerometry, allows for the evaluation of improvements in functional capacity and quality of life.
