Meet Jesús Palacios

Jesús is a PhD student in the Biomedicine programme at the University of Granada. His main research line focuses on human energy balance and energy efficiency, with particular emphasis on the relationship between energy expenditure and mechanical and energetic efficiency during exercise.

Jesús is actively involved in several projects covering:

  • The impact of a high-intensity exercise session combined with acute fasting on energy metabolism.
  • The characterisation of brown adipose tissue (brown fat) adaptations in response to a caloric restriction intervention.
  • The effects of intermittent fasting and caloric restriction on energy efficiency in humans and their potential role in the metabolic adaptations that promote or prevent weight regain following weight loss.

Outside The Lab

Outside the laboratory, Jesús works as a personal trainer, committed to improving people's quality of life through physical exercise, regardless of their condition or fitness level. He enjoys helping others achieve their goals and promoting healthy habits based on scientific evidence. In his free time, he likes to stay active, play sports such as padel, and explore the charming villages, hiking trails, and hidden gems of the province of Granada. He firmly believes that balancing science, movement, and enjoyment is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.
